The Mazda CX-30 is a niche Japanese SUV that still retains a "
New Car" feel, yet it embodies "easy driving" in every turn. Its compact dimensions of 4395×1797×1545mm, coupled with a 2653mm wheelbase, result in a drag coefficient of only 0.33. The Obsidian Black package, which blackens the wheels and grille, along with the subtly upturned ducktail spoiler and dual exhaust, make the car look more spirited than a used Nissan Qashqai and more agile than a boxy commercial minivan, allowing for easy U-turns in underground parking garages.
The interior retains a driver-oriented mechanical feel: a 7-inch LCD instrument cluster, an 8.8-inch central control screen, and physical air conditioning knobs. CarPlay wireless mapping and a reversing camera are standard across the range, making blind operation more convenient than other
new energy vehicles in the same price range. The front seats have 6-way manual adjustment but offer ample lateral support. Rear legroom is about a fist and a half, and there's a central floor hump, making it slightly cramped for three people laterally. However, the seats provide good support, offering a more engaging "Jinba Ittai" (horse and rider as one) experience on long journeys compared to electric cars with large screens.
The entire range is powered by a 2.0L Skyactiv-G naturally aspirated engine, producing 155 horsepower and 202 N·m of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Throttle response is linear, and revs climb actively. At highway cruising speeds below 2000 rpm, WLTC fuel consumption is 6.4L/100km, requiring only 92-octane gasoline. The chassis features a MacPherson strut front suspension and a torsion beam rear suspension with highly resilient springs, allowing for quick recovery after speed bumps. Steering is quick and provides clear road feedback, offering more mechanical communication than pure electric new energy vehicles and less lag than turbocharged cars. The annual maintenance cost is approximately 10,000 yuan, which is less troublesome than an older used turbocharged car and half the cost of new energy vehicles of the same engine displacement. Compared to commercial MPVs, it has a shorter body for easier parking; compared to older used models, the new car features LED headlights and GVC vector control; compared to electric vehicles where you have to search for charging stations everywhere, it can travel 1,000km on a single tank of gas, handling both city commuting and weekend mountain drives with ease, making "naturally aspirated + automatic transmission" a quietly elegant and sophisticated vehicle.
