The Leapmotor B01 is a pure electric family sedan labeled as a "
New Car," and a representative work of Leapmotor's strategy of bringing "LiDAR + 650km range" to the 100,000 RMB price range. Its 4700×1820×1500mm body and 2700mm wheelbase maintain A-class dimensions, with a drag coefficient of 0.26. Frameless doors, an active grille shutter, and a hatchback tailgate give it a more energetic look than a used Qin (a popular Chinese car), and a more agile appearance than a boxy
commercial vehicle, allowing for easy U-turns in underground parking garages.
The interior boasts a "half-price Model 3" approach, maximizing its technological appeal: a dual-screen setup consisting of a 15.6-inch 4K floating screen and a 10.25-inch LCD instrument cluster; Leapmotor Pilot 3.0 with two self-developed Lingxin 01 chips (280 TOPS); and a roof-mounted Hesai AT128 LiDAR, six 8MP cameras, and a 5mm-wave radar forming a 360° perception system, supporting high-speed NOA, unprotected left turns, and APA automatic parking. Its intelligent features surpass those of other
new energy vehicles in the same price range, yet are offered without additional fees.
Powertrain options include two rear-drive motors: 132kW and 160kW. The 160kW version achieves 0-100km/h in 6.4 seconds, with a 67.1kWh battery providing a CLTC range of 650km. Media tests show a range of 617.9km (95% completion rate), with a power consumption of 11.4kWh per 100km. Fast charging from 30% to 80% takes only 18 minutes (peak 120kW), allowing for immediate departure. Liquid cooling and PTC thermal management allow it to maintain 75% range even at -20℃, providing more confidence than pure electric new energy vehicles in northern winters.
The annual maintenance cost is approximately 1,000 yuan, half that of a used gasoline car. Compared to commercial MPVs, its shorter body makes parking easier; compared to older used models, the new car adds a lidar sensor and a hatchback tailgate; compared to comparable pure electric vehicles, it offers a true 650km range and L3-level hardware at a price point around 100,000 yuan, making it suitable for city commuting and weekend getaways, subtly showcasing "lidar accessibility" as a form of understated luxury.
